the only concern i have on the matter is if their online system will stay stable when SWTOR comes out, but a BF3 release on it exclusively isn't a bad idea to test the stress load on the servers prior to releasing Star Wars. As a consumer i can understand that STEAM has gone a long way and has become 'the norm' and with EA going to their own thing its going to just put more BS on my system. But as a business aspect STEAM's ass needs some competition.

Steam is a wonderful idea going in the wrong direction it seems.

I kinda agree with both sides here. Steam is getting to big for their bridges and having competition will def help with that. The flip side to that coin is that the Orion service is not something new and has been problem ridden apparently for a long time. If they fix the discrepancies that customers have experienced in the past, then all should be well.

Steam does need some competition, but If EA pulls there games from steam, how could they compete since EA games would be found on Origin and not Steam? Technically it would allow EA more leeway on pricing their games, although there are still other options to acquiring those games.

News flash - Game will still cost the same no matter where it is. If they lowered pricing because they distro their own shit it would defeat the purpose of cutting out the middle man.

True on everyone's POV, which is why I usually avoid the entire issue and just get my hard copy from Gamestop, problem solved!! :thumb:

^Agreed, but if EA wanted to they could charge .50 cents, or a dollar extra (any small amount NOT SAYING THEY WILL and prob wont) for downloading them off Origin for the lazy ppl out there that they could make a profit off of, but it also gives them a chance to lower their prices to draw more ppl towards their program and away from steam. just have to play the waiting game to find out lol

likely hood that the games will still cost the same but will only be available online via their service. and if purchased in person would require a registration with their Origin service, or it could go the way of many other games and have the ability to put your CDKey into STEAM to have access to your games. but that is iffy as well. I dont see any price changes coming with this, i see prices staying the same and EA Monopolizing (honestly this isn't a TERRIBLE idea just can be frustrating if they don't repair the bumps that i'm foreseeing in a timely manner) their games into their own Online gaming service. As i have already stated, i think its a wonderful idea because it'll give them a simple stress test while still providing them ample time to repair issues before the most anticipated MMO of the year is out and rips a new anus into their server boxes.

But just like EVERY other company in the past years, they could half ass it and fuck up everything and made everyone waste their money and ruin 2 great games by having a shitty service hosting them. We shall see. until then i am excited to see how it goes with BF3 and then hope it shows a good path that way there's less concern for SWTOR
