How have you been Hawkeye? I am still here, as is Eboy and Lackey. Dilligaf retired from FPS gaming and is doing well on his own in MMORPGs.
Well, as far as the team name, there were many reasons for the change. The name was just the storefront sign, but it shows overall a renewed focus. pD had very successful periods, no doubt, and many of us remember fondly those days. However, some of the events, and comings and goings, worked to shape the team into a kind of uncommitted competition team, where being a cohesive unit was not the focus. Our chain of command was not followed, our "team rosters" were comprised of every member of the clan. Therefore when it was time for practice, "someone else will show up, I don't need to" was the common presumption. We had a lot of dedicated and competitive members who we could use as a foundation for reconstructing our organization. Some were not interested in this change, so they bowed out. Others tried to stay on the roster, but were unable to toe the line. Few had the metal to press on and help build the team and lead it into 2010.
Our focus started with a refined military style. I began to make subtle changes around the clan and started to move slowly toward reorganizing the "clan" into a more dedicated "regiment". Not random assemblies of members into teams on a ladder for a clan, but solidified Squads, dedicated to a specific campaign (league/ladder), committed to their unit and the Regiment with a clear and empowered chain of command. Our virtual combat units maintain a Squad Integrity with a Squad Leader and Assistant(s) and each member knows that (s)he is counted on by the Squad to be present, trained, and ready to help their Squad and the Regiment succeed and win within every campaign they are deployed to.
2010 served to catapult this Regiment into an even more dedicated and refined direction. With the influx of a large number of very dedicated, very skilled, very experienced new members, this organization was virtually refortified and rearmed. That influx has happily continued into 2011 with a record number of skilled and qualified Recruits and new Rangers in just seven weeks.
With our current memberships, the rosters of our Squads, our VCU's Leadership, and our Officers, this organization has never been more dedicated, more focused, or more skilled, and it has certainly never had more potential for success.
What pureDOMINATION was is not dead, it just came of age and enlisted in the best damn FPS CombatOps Regiment out there! [pD] is with us every day in this unit. For those who don't know, it was the letters pD that sparked the Regiment's tag; because pD on a telephone is 73.
You are welcome to hang out here on our online Garrison web portals, our CommCenter forums, and in our VoiceComm TeamSpeak3 server. Glad to see another old-school member drop by, HOOAH!
