Squads have tryouts and it all depends on the game you plan on playing; although FIRST you have to be a full member which around 21 days after you enlisted you will be looked at again and determined if you are a fun person to play with and you dont have issues ie hacking. Once when you get approved you will be a full member at PVT and able to work your way up in the ranks and positions.
